As the heart of Los Angeles, West Hollywood is a world-class destination for nightlife, dining and luxury hotels. The mission of VisitWestHollywood.com is to inspire travelers to visit the area and book an overnight stay in “WeHo.” Featuring vibrant photography, fresh content and comprehensive business and event listings. VisitWestHollywood.com is the authority for city information for tourists. New articles are added daily, and the events calendar is an up-to-the-minute feed of what’s happening. The digital design is meant to mirror the consistent wow-factor of the place itself: Sleek, modern and stylish.
The audience for the site is primarily leisure travelers who are somewhat to very unfamiliar with West Hollywood and what it has to offer for visitors. The typical profile of a site user is culture-savvy, 25–54, higher household income singles and couples. The top pages are the events calendar and the hotel packages section, which appeal to the audience’s desire to book weekend getaways. Geographically, the largest percentage of users come from Southern California, then from other major metropolitan areas such as NYC, Chicago and Atlanta.
Since launching the redesigned website, bounce rates on all pages are down and users show higher signals of engagement by spending more time looking at more content during individual website sessions. Feedback from post-launch usability testing showed that the navigation was clear and easy to use, and users felt the site was a trustworthy resource.
