Sush Mobile were engaged by the New Zealand Blood Service to mobilise and streamline the blood donation experience in order to drive donor engagement and reduce operating costs. Each year, the lives of over 42,000 ordinary New Zealanders are saved thanks to 110,000 donors. However, NZ Blood Service loses around 27,000 donors a year, so it is important to recruit new donors to ensure there is a constant supply of new donors.
The NZ Blood Service Donor App was built to connect strongly with donors and create long-standing relationships through the following features:
● The personalised home screen has a dashboard which shows donor’s blood type, donation history and when they can next donate.
● The Donor ID card has been virtualised into the app, so donors no longer need to carry a physical one
● All physical and mobile blood donation locations are now indexed and visible on a nationwide map, which makes finding a location easy regardless of where you live or work.
● We reimagined and simplified the booking process, so it is now much faster and easier to choose a convenient time and date.
● Notifications remind people of their upcoming appointments.
A new unique feature that has been added to the app is the ability to track a user’s donation. Donors are notified when their blood has actually been used to save someone’s life. This shows them how valuable their contribution really is and hopefully encourages them to keep giving their blood in the future.
