In March of 2011, our team launched our Accenture app for the iPhone. The app delivers the most recent news, information and thought leadership from our company, a $25 billion management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company.
Our objective in creating the app was to leverage the iPhone platform’s functionality to create a new distribution channel for information on how our company helps its clients to outperform their competitors. By packaging this information into a simple user experience through the iPhone, we hoped to increase user engagement with our content among our target audience of C-level executives from around the world who are either current or potential clients of Accenture.
While members of this group previously could obtain information on the full scope of our company’s services and research through our global website, www.accenture.com, we wanted to deliver a more phone-friendly version of this information to the growing number them looking for information on our company through an iPhone. By customizing our best, most valuable material into an app that would represent a simplified, abridged version of our corporate website, we hoped to deliver a much faster, easier experience for those seeking information on our company through an iPhone. This in turn would expand the overall distribution of our services information, research articles, podcasts and general information about our company. At the same time, we hoped that by delivering a simple and speedy user experience through the app, we would also to demonstrate our company’s technical expertise in this area.
