Arkansas.gov is the official website for the State of Arkansas. In this capacity, Arkansas.gov delivers value to Arkansans by serving as the established, trusted resource for citizens to access a comprehensive collection of government information and complete online services. Arkansas launched a redesigned Arkansas.gov in April 2018 with the goal of getting citizens to the information they are seeking as quickly as possible. The state’s official digital government partner, Arkansas Information Consortium (AIC), developed an API that serves agency information, services, event calendar, and news articles to the front-end of the site. When the site builds, it leverages and uses the APIs across hundreds of other services and agency sites for data consistency. The state also used Jekyll, a static generator technology that builds static HTML files from the APIs. This results in super-fast load times (less than one second) without database calls.
Arkansas’s enterprise digital government experience encompasses an ecosystem of more than 900 services delivered to citizens through responsive and chatbot-integrated Arkansas.gov. Visits to Arkansas.gov from mobile devices has increased by 8% since the launch of the redesigned site. Overall, more than 501,400 citizens have rated their experience with Arkansas digital government services with an average rating of 2.9 out of 3, or 96.6% satisfaction. The redesigned site’s minimal, information-centric design and lightning-fast performance stands in refreshing contrast to the bloated, graphics- and feature-heavy portals of the past.
