The audience for the Fortify app is people facing sexual compulsivity and/or pornography addiction looking for virtual, evidence-based solutions. The goal is to create a new type of platform to help as many people as possible live happy and productive lives.
Clay Olsen ideated this app in 2013 in response to his non-profit, Fight the New Drug, which raised awareness about the risk of pornography. More than 10,000 people approached the organization asking for help with recovery, which they felt ill-equipped to offer at that time.
The overwhelming demand led to partnerships with experts to develop a virtual tool that users add to their lifestyle. The app combines video trainings, community forums, and tracking to create an online experience to equip and empower people to move toward a happier life.
When Fortify was proven successful—by over 200,000 individuals in over 150 countries—the team broadened their approach by developing two additional apps: Lift, for depression and anxiety, and Turn, for substance abuse. The library of three apps now make up the offerings of RecoverySuite.com.
The Fortify app, as well as the Lift and Turn, helps remove the stigma from addiction, mental health, and sexual compulsivity to provide the anonymous user support along the recovery journey. The small in-app cost for users 18 and up offsets the free premium access given to users 17 and under. So far, ninety percent of users report life-changing impact, 88 percent report a reduction in addictive/compulsive behavior, and 85 percent report a decrease in depression symptoms.
