Glioblastoma (GBM) is a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer with a devastating prognosis. Because GBM can cause severe cognitive deficits, it can make overwhelmed patients even more confused.
Optune is wearable, portable device that uses electric fields to destroy cancer cells. While it’s a highly innovative treatment, it’s also a highly unknown type of treatment.
Our goal was to create a website that educates patients and care partners on Optune technology while understanding the unique cognitive challenges of those interacting with our website.
Upon arriving on Optune.com, patients can choose from “Recently diagnosed,” “Starting Optune,” or “Currently using Optune.” After making that selection, patients will find content specifically curated for their needs. We also ensured that the:
• Content is written at a 3rd grade reading level, with short, simple language
• Tone is approachable, warm, and supportive
• Graphics and patient imagery are used heavily to help visualize content
• Downloadable resources and videos are purposely placed throughout the site
Any imagery like infographics, have been optimized for mobile screens. Instead of having a graphic take up the whole screen, on mobile, a viewer can use a carousel function to swipe through.
Since launching on February 1st, 2023, we have seen exceptional results:
• Sign up completion for Buddy Calls exceeded expectations with an increase of more than 300%
• 70% engagement rate of the entire site, surpassing industry benchmarks
• Registrations for webinars have increased 80x
These metrics were compared against the last site iteration.
