About the Entry

The Chicago Blackhawks required a mobile app to keep fans informed on the latest news, schedule, ticket purchase, team stats and standings, past game results, photos, videos, player stats, profiles and more.

Atimi Software developed the official mobile app that ensures the Blackhawks’ brand integrity, creates fan engagement and also provides an additional revenue stream.

The interface and design was based on years of experience in sports and offers a UI that is easy to navigate. The customizable menu can be can edited so that content fans care about most will appear front and center. Fans can select their favorite team-member on the featured page and easily navigate to see the box score and head-to-head match ups.

The app was developed for iOS, Android and BlackBerry.

In addition to the standard features, the app delivers above-and-beyond features such as:

- Augmented reality is integrated into the app. Fans can scan marketing materials like posters or tickets and a video reel will appear with exclusive content
- Sortable statics and standings pages, so fans can sort results based on different categories
- Media gallery with extensive photos and video content
- Exclusive Blackhawks Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest feeds display right in the app
- In-app message board so fans can comment and connect
- Videos use the mobile device’s native player, which ensures easy and seamless viewing. Since content is not stored on the fan’s device, image rights issues are minimized
- The Places feature provides a list of pubs, with directions, that will be broadcasting the game so fans can watch with other fans
