About the Entry

Soccer is more than a sport – it’s a culture and a way of life. We launched a digital campaign to promote the
world’s biggest sport, and to give both casual and hardcore fans a place to share their love of the
game.

RED Interactive Agency partnered with ESPN and Internet Explorer to develop and launch the ESPN FC World Cup Essentials site. There is so much excitement around World Cup, but it can be hard for fans to find all the information they want in one place. ESPN FC World Cup Essentials covers it all, whether you’re a hardcore fan or just watching for fun.

The ESPN FC World Cup Essentials site functions as a window into the World Cup, highlighting information about teams, players, and matches. While many sites provide soccer news, none capture the traditions, cultures, stories, and history of the game quite like the ESPN FC World Cup Essentials experience. From featured articles and video highlights, to polls and predictions, the site brings a wealth of real-time news, exclusive content curated by ESPN experts and 3D artwork to fans, all in one convenient destination on the web.

The digital portal comes to life by using some of the best technology on the web. The site is built for touch and best experienced on IE11, though it is responsively designed to work across all modern browsers and devices. Interactive elements such as the 3D globe, 3D team callouts, and transitions between sections were created with the latest HTML5 standards and WebGL, making for a sleek, incredibly visual and truly immersive experience.
